So, we all know from all the bitching about Blogger that it's been jacked up lately.
I keep hearing about wordpress, so I checked it out this morning. Did some searching, did some reading. Some places say that you need to get a host with some parts of Wordpress, which isn't an issue. Hubby is a web/graphic designer, and has his own server (host? I dunno the difference) so I'm not worried about that. I tried doing the import thing on wordpress, but after importing all of my posts and half of my comments, it got stuck. So I said screw it, closed out the window and decided I'd ask.
I haven't had many problems with Blogger, no missing posts, I'm still able to comment. My main beef right now is my followers section is mission. Poof. Gone. And I know (okay, I hope) that my follower count could be, like.... two or three numbers higher.
Have you made the switch? Why or why not? Did you pay someone, or tough it out yourself?
I don't like change, but I also don't like the followers button being missing. How am I supposed to get my validation and self worth, damnit?
12 people love me:
I feel ur pain..It is a pain. Last week I had empty blogs I follow and wouldn't let me see them. Now for awhile I haven't been able to post...UGGHHHHH..Well enjoy your memorial weekend.
Hugs,
Jolyn
I was just thinking about making the switch. Still thinking.
I haven't had any are trouble besides a few of my buttons missing.
i see your followers and your follow button!
my husband isn't a web designer, but is geek enough and got my own domain. ...which i haven't done anything about, since i have no clue what life will be after the switch. but if blogger will be bitching again, at least i'm ready, well... sort of.
My followers disappeared last night! Let me know if you learn anything!
For awhile Blogger wouldn't let me comment on anybody's blog which was a pain...especially after taken the trouble to comment and then *poof* gone. But now it seems fine again. My list of blogs I follow disappear for like two hours and then it's back, but that was in the huge debacle that just happened. I just figure all tech is going to go wonky sometimes.
As far as your followers. ? I can see them and the follow button. I just started following you, what, 2 weeks ago?, sort of recently, so I think it's working. Maybe you just can't see us?
For me, I stick with blogger because it's free. If I ever become famous and have oodles of advertisers, eh? Who knows? But kind of unlikely, so I'll probably stick with the free option.
Man, I'm wordy today! Sorry. :)
My followers are gone from my side-bar. I thought it was just me ha!! But, now that you mentioned it, I did go to another blog and had the intent of following her, but couldn't find her follow section! I was thinking "How rude!" but... I scrolled aaaallll the way to the top, and behold, there is a "follow" link in the same header where "sign-in" and "dashboard" are, just on the left hand side :) :) People can still follow if they choose to! :) :)
I had originally intended to start at Wordpress, since that what where all the hipsters seemed to be. I opened it, and signed up, and was like, 'holy html I don't effing think so.' Push-button publishing for the people! I know that WordPress is supposed to be more of a 'total content management' site, so when I'm eventually a Famous Blogger, I suppose I'll want to migrate. For right now, though - nah. Plus, FWIW, I read a LOT of blogs on my iPhone, and I don't like how the wordpress blogs show up in their mobile edition - so much so that I often skip reading them.
My $.02. ;-)
okay yay! sooo glad it's not just me. wonder what the dealy-o is. i've tried refreshing 100x and logging out then back in again, and nothing happens. hm... let me know if you're up and running soon :) andiejaye @ crayonfreckles
Oh blogger, how you pain us all. I'm taking a college class about wordpress next semester. I GET TO TAKE A CLASS ALL ABOUT BLOGGING. SO EXCITED. haha. maybe after I learn more about it there I will debate the switch...
Jennifer, you are hilarious. I gave you the versatile blogger award. I hope you don't have too many already. :/ Go read nice things about yourself! http://pleasedaspunch-rh.blogspot.com/2011/05/7-burning-questions-about-me-answered.html
I can see your GFC too. I tried to follow to see if it's working, but I'm already following.
Love the 'lamesauce'. :)
I thought about switching to wordpress AFTER I had established my blogger, and then it seemed like too much trouble. I think it's a lot more customizable, and if I was to ever start from scratch, I would probably start with a wordpress blog instead of one on blogspot. :)
