Happy Valentine's Day 2011

Did everyone have a good Valentine's day? I for one am glad that Valentine's day is over, only for the simple fact that I want to see something besides red and pink heart crafts all over my google reader.

We celebrated Valentine's day yesterday. When I got up with Ava in the morning, there was a sweet card waiting for me. I woke up hubby at 8, and we exchanged presents. He's lucky he got to sleep in until 8, I was DYING for him to open his presents. I have no patience when it comes to people opening gifts I get for them. I was ready for him to open them two weeks ago when I bought them.

I got him a Thaigo Silva collectors figure (he has a HUGE collection of UFC figures), and two books. One is a Spartan workout guide thingy, and the other is a book by Forrest Griffin. It's called "Be Ready When the Sh*t Goes Down, a Survival Guide to the Apocalypse." Totally goofy, but I know my hubby would love it. You have to love a book that has a quiz titled "When it's time to eat your friend".

For me? Hubby got me the wall decal and shower curtain I talked about in my home goals, and an IOU for a can of paint in my choice of color. And some chocolate covered strawberries, which apparently have been hidden in the fridge for two days. Shows how often I dig thru the fridge. Oops.
Yeah, I look like crap. But Ava looks adorable.

And then we called the girls in so they could get their presents. Chocolate for the big girls.

And a puppy dog for Ava.

My oldest daughter gave us her gift. She made us a sweet card in computer class at school.

That night, Hubby, Ava and I went out to dinner while the big girls went to Awana. We went to Carino's, an Italian restaurant I've been wanting to try. Pretty darn good. I had the chicken parmesan, spaghetti and an entire mini loaf of bread. By myself. I can't help it, this girl loves her carbs. A no carb diet would be my idea of Hell. I couldn't do it. No way, no how.

And then today, both big girls had their school Valentine's parties. Luckily they were at different times so I was able to make it to both.

And then we went and had lunch with daddy at his work.

All in all, I had a freaking awesome Valentine's Day. I know, I know. A wall decal and a can of paint doesn't sound very Valentine-sy. But, I think it's different when you're married than when you're dating. He gets me flowers often enough that getting them because a holiday says you're "supposed" to is whatever. Him taking the time to always read my blog and listen to me talk about what I really want to redecorate? Now that's LOVE. I'll take that over a stuffed teddy bear and a box of chocolates any day.

Happy 5th Valentine's Day together, baby!

Well it sounds like you had a really great day! You have loads to smile about, lady!

Hey hey hey...I had a look at your bedroom post and your colors are exactly the same that we are using to redo our room in a few months. We're doing turquoise, blacks, whites and silvers.

AVA is ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love your presents, mon cher and I dont exchange presents for vday we are not into it, but we do spend special time. Still if we were to buy presents it would be something like the ones you exchange, thoughtful things instead of just chocolate hearts n flowers, I love it when I see other people doing so, I guess I dont feel like such an alien lol. I think the whole hallmark stuff its more cute when we are kids...

That's a lovely Valentines Day. Kudos to your hubby for the thoughtful gift! And that book sounds hilarious. I think I'm going to get it for my husband. He would find that hysterically funny. And I'll have to flip through it myself. I mean, when it comes to the question of when to eat your friends, sounds like a question that takes some thought.
