Kreativ Blogger? Who, me?

What is it with these crazy people wanting to give me these blog awards? Don't they know I just write about random crap? Apparently random crap = creative blogging. Hell, I'll take it. So here is my Kreativ Blogger award. It's purposely misspelled so it's uber prestigious.

Kim at Little Rays of Sunshine has given me this award.  She has a super cute blog and is the mommy to a precious baby girl.

Same rules as all of the other awards. Thank, share random interesting facts about yourself (this one requires 10 instead of the normal 7),  and pass on.

So here we go. 10 interesting things? Yowzas.

Cute, right? I would name him Bill.
1. I really want to own a donkey. I think they're uh-dor-able! We have a lot of farms around here, and there are always donkeys in with the cows. I looked it up one day, and apparently the donkeys protect the cows from predators. There is a cute donkey at one farm around here, I keep telling hubby that I'm going to stick it in my pocket one day and bring it home. Think of all the time it'll save him from having to mow the lawn. I keep using that as part of my argument, but hubby isn't going for it. Apparently our backyard is too small, blah blah blah.

2. I have the coolest parrot in existence. His name is Jack, and he's an eclectus parrot. He says a lot of words. Hello, Come here, step up, hey what are you doing, No no bad bird. Things like that. One of is favorite things is to take a shower, he'll stretch out his wings, flap, squawk, etc. He looks horrible in this pic. I normally do a very conservative wing clip (just take off the first 3 or 4 flight feathers) but I had the vet do it when he trimmed his nails. And the vet clipped off ALL of his flight feathers. All his pretty blue feathers, on the floor. I was pretty upset.

3. I just realized that I had no damn clue how to spell "squawk". Tried 4 or 5 different ways, and had to google it. Kept putting the q and the w in the wrong places.

4. Law & Order SVU is one of my favorite shows. Besides Olivia and Eliott, my favorite characters are Agent Wong, Fin and Munch.

5. I bruise super easily. Most of the time, I don't even know where I got my bruises from. Two nights ago, I was drying off after the shower, and brought my arm down and hit the back of my arm on the shower door handle. And yup, the back of my arm has a huge black and blue mark on it. I think someone said I'm supposed to eat more bananas?

6. My favorite cereal is Basic 4. I heart it. And Walmart doesn't carry it, so I'll make a special trip to the grocery store just to buy it. And I'm a mean mommy and won't share it with my kids. A small box of it is like $5. Mommy is stingy. Here's a bowl of generic lucky charms. Eat up.

7. Coming up with 10 interesting things is really freaking hard. I've already done 3 posts before with seven interesting things. Apparently I'm only about 27 facts worth of interesting.

8. I love playing Words with Friends on my phone. Wanna play me? My user name is jenfur427

9. I was not even kinda interested in the Royal Wedding. Hell, I only knew it happened today because of all the updates on facebook. I guess I'm missing the Fairy Tale gene or something.

10. We went to Discovery Cove on our honeymoon. I've been wanting to do it for FOREVER. Hubby sprung for the Trainer for the Day program, which was awesome. Extra time in the water with the dolphins, behind the scenes tour, we were able to pet other animals not on the program (nurse shark, sloth, owl, etc)

Okay, so here is the part where I'm supposed to spread the blog love. Here are my picks in no particular order.

Go check them out, I heart these ladies. Do it. Doooo eeetttttt.

Versatile Blogger Award? Why thank you!

The fabulous Kristen at Kristen's Creations nominated little ole me for the Versatile Blogger Award.

Same basic rules as the Stylish Blogger Award.

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award, and
let the giver know you accept the award!

So thank you, dear Kristen, for thinking of me!

Let's see. 7 things about me. Eek. I've already shared 7 things here and 7 more here. And now I need to come up with 7 more interesting, fun facts about yours truly. Let's hope I'm that interesting! I'm not, but we'll pretend, k?

1. I was in the Air Force for 4 years, from 1998 to 2002. My job was electronics calibration (PMEL). My tech school was in Biloxi, Mississippi. And the two bases I was stationed at were Osan AB, South Korea, and Misawa AB, Japan. I'm still friends with my first supervisor, he's stationed in San Antonio and we meet them for breakfast every couple of months.

2. I really want a tank of poison dart frogs. I think they're beautiful. But I know that I wouldn't be able to keep up with their their specific needs, despite my best intentions, so I just enjoy watching them at the zoo or aquarium. I mean, does anyone really want to hear about my poison dart frog funeral if I mess up and kill these suckers? Plus, they're like $70. EACH. So you'd be coming to my funeral too when hubby kills me for killing a $70 pet. No thank you.

3. When I was younger, a scene in Dumbo gave me nightmares. I've heard from a few people (like my hubby) that the wolf scene in Neverending Story scared them as a child. Mine was the part in Dumbo where they accidentally get drunk and hallucinate, I think it's called Pink Elephants on Parade? Scary Dancing Elephant Craziness? Something like that. But it's elephants that are ice skating, dancing around, etc. Seriously, scared the crap out of me. Even this picture gives me the heebie jeebies.

4. I start every morning with a Coke. I've tried to quit drinking soda, and even dropped 5 lbs when I did. But I love my Coke. And yes, I know soda isn't good for you. But I don't smoke, I don't do drugs, I rarely drink. You gotta give me something.

5. I can hoop dance. I saw an ad in a magazine a billion years ago that hooping was the new "it" workout, and stars like Beyonce liked to hoop. So I went online and found out more about it, ordered a hoop (not a kids hoop like you'd find at Walmart) and have loved it ever since. I even got my sister in law hooked on it. It's great workout, I just crank up some music and start. End up sweating my butt off. Still don't know what I'm talking about? This is one of the teaching videos I ordered. And yes, I can do the stuff in the video. And no, I don't have the big furry boots. But if I did, they'd be hot pink. That'd be awesome.

6. I've read just about every Stephen King book there is. Except for The Stand. Which I own, but have never read. Hubby is awesome, and keeps track of when his new books are released, and always orders them for me so they are delivered to the doorstep.

7. Hubby and I took a marriage evaluation test a few months ago. It just tells you a bit about each person, what your strengths/weaknesses are, and how to better understand each other. We have an amazing marriage, and I think it's because we are always looking for ways to improve it. It compared you to 4 animals, depending on what your answers are.

-lion- leader, assertive, opinionated, focuses on the big picture, determined, aggressive
-otter- life of the party, talkative, socialite
-beaver- attention to detail, very neat and organized, doesn't like change, checks out all the options
-golden retriever- people pleaser, team player, goes with the flow

Me? Extremely high lion and otter, very low beaver and golden retriever. Hubby? Extremely high  beaver and golden retriever, very low lion and otter. I thought it was really interesting that we are exact opposites of each other, but that's probably why we work together so well. Rawr.

So the bloggers I am giving this to? The same I gave the Stylish Blogger Award. I loved these ladies blogs enough to bestow them one award, they are awesome enough to deserve two.

Stylish Blogger Award, and a beg for votes

Today is our third school day off due to "inclement weather and power conservation." We've been experiencing rolling blackouts here that last about 15 minutes each time. But today has started off on the right foot. Take that, cabin fever!

Thanks to my Paint Chip Wall Art, I was nominated as one of January's Top Ten Bloggers of the Month. The winner gets a CD from My Vinyl Designer, one month of free advertising, and bragging rights. I want it :) Will you vote for me? You can vote on the top left hand side of the page, and you don't even have to register. It'd make my day, pretty please?

My second UH-mazing thing for today? Anna from Blissfully Whimsy nominated my blog for a Stylish Blogger Award!

Seriously, it's awesome. I started my blog on December 27th, 2010, and it's already getting out there. I love it. Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. You like me. You really like me. :)

So there are a few rules that come along with receiving the Stylish Blogger Award.

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

So here are my 7 random facts about moi.
1. I am a huge animal lover. I'm that person that will stop on the side of the road for a stray. My most recent rescue? A boston terrier that was wandering around the street, dodging traffic. I brought him inside, put a "Found Dog" sign outside, gave him food and water, and kept him company while he took a long nap. A few hours later, I hear a knock at the door. I open it and pop my head out (I didn't want the person to see the dog unless it's was theirs) and there was a lady, sobbing. She asked me "Did you find a black and white dog?" I opened the door, the dog was at the end of the hallway, and she called him and he RAN to her. She asks me "Is it okay if I give you a hug? I don't know what I would have done if I had lost this dog, I've had him for 9 years." I would want someone to do that for my doxie, if he got out.

2. I am a huge UFC lover. Yes, that UFC. The half naked men, beating the snot out of each other, UFC. Hubby and I get it on PPV every month, and we have a few guys over to watch. I'm always the only girl :) I took kickboxing for a while before I got pregnant, so I know what moves hurt where, which makes it more fun to watch.

3. My wedding dress cost me $48. At least, the fabric did. Our whole wedding was done on a budget. My mom made my wedding dress, she was a seamstress for 20 years. Hubby's suit was the most expensive part, at $250. The shop wanted to charge us $200 to alter it, but my mom did that for free. We were married at hubby's work in the Baptism room in front of a stone pool (employee discount), the pastor didn't charge us his fee, we had finger foods and sandwiches (it was a lunch time wedding). And that night, we went with a bunch of our friends up to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch, yes, a UFC fight. And my parents threw us a huge BBQ the next day for everyone. It was low key, and not expensive, but it was "us".

4. I can speed read. Books that would take a normal person 3 days to read, I can have finished in a day. It really came in handy in high school, where most tests are just regurgitating information that you read in the book. Hubby tried to test me on it one day, saying that it's impossible that I read that fast. He showed me a long paragraph in his magazine, I looked at it for about 3 seconds, and when I said I was finished, he said "What did it say then?" I was able to quote most of it, word for word. Booyah.

5. My favorite animal is a penguin. I collect penguin figurines, I sleep with a stuffed penguin, and hubby actually arranged for me to meet an emperor penguin on our honeymoon.

6. I have horrible eyesight. I absolutely cannot see a thing without my contacts. I can't even read anything without my contacts, I have to hold the book so close that it makes my eyes go crossed. So if I am going to read something, I have to close one eye. For those of you contact wearers, my box numbers are -8.5 on the left, and -9.0 on the right. My glasses are so thick that I refuse to wear them in front of people, I only wear them if my eyes need a break. My husband calls them my "sexy specs"

7. I got engaged in a hot air balloon. Taking a trip in a hot air balloon has always been on my "Bucket List". He woke me up one morning at 5am, told me to get dressed, and wouldn't tell me anything else. We drove for about an hour out to McKinney TX, and a man with a basket met us in the Tom Thumb parking lot. We got into his van, we drove out with him and his wife to a huge field, and we helped set up the hot air balloon. Hubby proposed to me at 1000 feet in the air, and even had the balloon operator video tape the whole thing.
