Barbie's Princess & The Popstar GIVEAWAY!!!

So, I had the freaking awesome opportunity to host a party this past weekend. My three daughters and eight of their girlfriends got to watch the new Barbie Princess & The Popstar movie.

I sent out invites and each of the guests came dressed as either a princess or a popstar. My two youngest chose princess, my oldest chose popstar. Everyone got a tiara to wear. There was a ton of sequins, ruffles and zebra print :)

I know you've seen the commercials that have been airing. It's the traditional prince and the pauper themed movie, but with a fun new twist. Tori is a princess who dreams of being a popstar like her favorite star, Kiera. Kiera is a famous popstar who is tired of performing and dreams of being a princess. The two meet and trade places, and realize that not all is as it seems. There is fun music and great animation, and definitely a treat for all ages.

The girls all enjoyed the movie, and so did the moms! Afterwards, we all colored some Barbies pages, danced, and enjoyed pink and purple jello and cupcakes. It was a blast sharing this time with the girls, and even the moms got to play princess for a while. Who doesn't secretly want to be a princess?

With any new movie, you know there are awesome new toys, right? Barbie has really outdone themselves with these Barbies. They each transform from princess to popstar, and even their hair changes with a simple twist. Plus, with a simple touch of their necklace, they sing two songs from the movie! My two oldest girls love these dolls. Even my nine year old who at times thinks she's "too old" for toys hasn't let this doll leave her side.

Along with the dolls, we were all able to check out the new princess castle. It was super easy to set up, and my youngest loves it. It plays music from the movie, and every step lights up and plays a note. Plus it comes with a small Tori and Kiera from the movie.

Along with checking out the new Barbies and castle, each guest received a fairy doll from the movie to take home. Each guest got to pick either pink or purple, and they had a blast "flying" them around the room and singing to them.

Adorable, right? Are you completely and utterly jealous yet? Guess what I have for you today? One lucky blog follower is going to win a Kiera AND a Tori Barbie doll! Trust me, you'll be the coolest mom ever when you give these to the special little girl in your life.

Wanna win? Do ya?

Bella Pouch Review and GIVEAWAY from Pink Stitches!

So, a couple of weeks ago, Bonnie from Pink Stitches asked for volunteers to review her Bella pouch and do a giveaway, and I totally jumped at the chance! As a mom to 3 girls with one on the way, I knew that having a little purse pouch in my arsenal of patterns would never go to waste.

The pattern comes with 16 pages with great pictures and instructions. I was a little hesitant when it came to sewing the outside to the inside fabric and flipping it, but I just followed the instructions exactly and was so excited when mine looked like it was supposed to!

The only things I did differently than her pattern was I didn't have any batting on hand, so I used some fleece that I had, which worked out fine. And I didn't have any button snaps, so I used velcro, and again, it worked out fine. I love that I can enlarge the pattern if I want to make a bigger purse for my girls. The size it is now is perfect for my makeup and to throw in my purse.

Want to see how mine turned out? It didn't need a ton of fabric, which was awesome! The outside was made with one fat quarter.

My oldest daughter has already claimed this one as hers! You can pick up this pattern at Bonnie's Etsy shop for the super low price of $6.50, but one of you lucky girls is going to win a pattern for yourself!

Origami Owl: Sponsor Review + GIVEAWAY!

So, have you noticed something new on my sidebar?? I know you couldn't have missed the pretty ad on the right side, showing off a gorgeous locket. That locket comes from Origami Owl, and I had the pleasure of working with Jennifer (awesome name by the way), an independent designer for Origami Owl.

"I have been an Independent Designer with Origami Owl for five months. I love the personal connection I get with my customers when I help them create a locket that tells their story. In addition to Origami Owl, I work full time at a major food manufacturer and am the mother of a three year old daughter and wife of a very supportive husband."

The lockets and charms inside are like wearing your own personal story. You first pick your locket, either medium (holds 4-7 charms) or large (holds 7-12 charms), and the color (plain silver, silver with bling along the edges, gold or rose gold) and then you choose your charms. And that's where I had the hardest time. There are SO MANY charms to choose from. Everything from birthstones, to initials, to numbers, to hobbies... the options are endless.

After much thought, I finally picked out 5 charms I wanted. I went with a "hubby" themed locket. A "J" and a "D" for his first and last name, a charm that says "Love", a blinged out heart, and a birthstone for April (the month we got married in). Don't they look so pretty together? And look how shiny that locket is, you can see the reflection of my iPhone case. :)

The package was sent to me in a gorgeous little container, and it was super easy to put in the charms. The front and back of the locket are connected with a hinge on one side, and a super strong magnet on the other. I just popped it open, inserted my charms, threaded on the chain, and VOILA! It was ready to wear. Even hubby loved it and said it's so much prettier than he expected it to be.

So, how many of you are jealous of my new pretties? Raise your hand because I know you are! Wouldn't you like to have one for yourself?? Jennifer has offered to give one LCW follower a $25 gift certificate! Booyah!

Almost 1000 followers? How the crap did that happen?

Okay, am I the only one shocked that I'm at 995 followers? When did that happen?

I know a lot of blogs do giveaways at the "normal" numbers. First 100 followers. First 500. First 1000. I'm going to be different and say, when I reach 1007 followers, I'll do a $20 giveaway to a place of your choice....

either Target, Hobby Lobby or HomeGoods. Or if you win and ask me nicely, I could do a Chili's or Applebee's too.

Which place would you pick?

Thanks for following, you rock!

My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Giveaway

So, I've tried scrapbooking a couple of times before. I buy all the pretty paper, all the stickers and embellishments, take the time to dig through all the bazillion pics I have on iPhoto, get those printed.... and then it all just gets shoved in a box and I never end up doing it. I just can't wrap my head around the concept of working for a few hours and spending $10-20 total, just to end up with ONE page for your scrapbook.

So when My Memories offered to let me download their program, and gave me $10 to spend on their online store, I was honestly a bit hesitant. I mean, I suck at scrapbooking. I have scrapbooking stuff just taking up space and collecting dust. Would I be able to figure this out and do it justice? I went ahead and said yes.

The program was really easy to figure out. It's easy enough to navigate your way through if you've never had editing program software knowledge. I'm pretty familiar with the Silhouette program, and very well versed in Photoshop, so I was able to figure out the My Memories Digital Scrapbooking program very easily.

There are a TON of papers and embellishments that came with the program. Plus, their online store also has a TON of free stuff you can download. My Memories was nice enough to send me a $10 download code, so I had a lot of fun, browsing through their packages, trying to narrow down what I wanted to choose.

It's easy to figure out. You first open a page, decide on your layout and size.

Then it'll open up a blank page, and there the magic begins. You pick your paper, your embellishments, your photos, etc. Click on this next photo so you can view it larger, and see how much there is that you can do. One of the things I was most excited about was that it automatically pulled up fonts that I already have downloaded on my computer. Being married to a graphic designer = LOTSA fonts on my computer.

Since I'm scrapbookingly challenged, I decided to start with something super easy. The first page I did, I used a Quickpage. Basically, it's a page that is already designed, and you just drop in your photo.

Easy peasy, right? The second one I did, I used the Birthday Circus theme. It's far from the gorgeous layouts I've seen people do, but for my first attempt, I'm happy with it.

I did one more, after browsing through some scrapbook images on Google. Looks like lots of layers are the way to go.

Are you jealous that I've had the chance to play with this software? And of my free $10 download? Want a chance to win it for yourself?

Giveaway! 5 Love Languages book

So, for you long time followers, you've heard me talk about the book, The 5 Love Languages before. I swear by this book, I heart it. They always talk about it at the "Marriages That Last" seminar that we go to every year. At first, I was like, "Why are they pushing this book so much?". But after reading it, I totally get it.

In my last post, I told you how my love language is touch, followed closely by gifts. Hubby's is acts of service, followed closely by words of affirmation.

Do you know what yours is? How would you like to have your own copy?

Required entry
  • become a follower of my blog, or tell me that you already are cause you're awesome. That's one super simple entry
Entra entries
  • Like me on Facebook, the button is over there on the right. That gives you one more entry.
Bam. That's it, folks. Giveaway ends next Thursday the 24th at midnight. Contest open to US residents, and heck, I'll even ship to Canada.
