Time for a Change

So, I've had pretty much the same hairstyle since high school. I'm pretty sure that'd be considered a rut. The length has varied, but it's pretty boring. And blah. I'll be honest, I have to idea what to do with it. I have to straighten it every morning, my natural texture is wavy. But not pretty, beachy waves. The "I forgot to brush my hair this morning" waves. So I'm addicted to my Chi straightening iron. This is my hair currently. It was taken last night at the awards ceremony. My daughter finished her first Awana book, which is awesome. So stinkin' proud of that kid.

I've been growing my hair out for a while. Pretty easy to do, since it grows super fast. But when it's long, it's pretty much always in a ponytail. Well, it's a ponytail after my husband pulls out the loopy part. You know the hairstyle. Wrap the ponytail holder around your hair once, and on the second turn, you just pull the hair out halfway. Like this.

Gross, right? But if I don't have it up, I end up with paint/baby drool/formula/sticky fingers in it. And that's even grosser.

My husband loves my hair when it's short and choppy. You know, the hairstyle where you put wax on the ends and piece it out. Like this.

But I see pictures of myself with long hair, and it really makes me want to grow it out.

But I have to remember that I don't have my make up professionally done every day. Or wear snake print dresses. But that long hair does make me feel glamorous. Or maybe it's the fake lashes or the dress.

But as I sat here, rockin' my boring lame ugly convenient bun, I made a haircut appt for tomorrow at 12:15. I wish I had the confidence to try this.

But I'm afraid that I'd always have to have full make up and big earrings, or I'd risk being mistaken for a dude. My husband says I can rock it. But if I hate it, I can't exactly put it in a ponytail. But I do love it. Ugh. I wish I could try it, and be able to change my mind if I decide I hate it. Glue it back on or something. Plus, what does it look like if you don't want to do the fauxhawk style one day?

So since I'm too scared unsure of the awesome one, I am doing this one instead. Still undecided on the sideswept bangs. My bangs are chin length right now, still growing out from a stupid decision when I thought I'd look cute with bangs and chopped them off in the bathroom one night.

Hubby's excited. He loves when I have short hair. I'm just ready for a change. The bun's gotta go. I just wish I had the cajones nerve to try the other one. Drool.

I'm going safe right now, most def. I just worry what does the short hair look like if you don't want to do the fauxhawk style one day? Plus, would I look like a guy? I dunno. Eek.

  10. There's a decent chance we are twins, separated at birth. I've had pretty much the same straight hair since, oh, birth (you know, when we were separated?) and I NEVER risk anything with it, but the last week or two I've been ready to just buzz it all off because I just need a change. (That did, of course, lead to me chopping bangs in the bathroom one night about a week ago - HATE THEM! Oh well!) Can't wait to see what you did to yours!
